App Store reaches 50 billion downloads

It has been just five years since Apple launched its App Store in July 2008. Since then, Apple has passed 3 major milestones, the first-10 billion download in 2011, the second- reaching  25 billion the next year and this week it reached the third milestone of having as many as 50 billion downloads.
To celebrate the achievement, Apple is offering $10, 000 worth of gift cards to the person who downloads the 50 billionth app. There will also be 50 runners-up who will receive $500 worth gift card. It took 3 years and 8 months for Apple to reach the first 25 billion mark; however, within 14.5 months, Apple was able to double the downloads. This year, the pace to download apps has grown with over 50 million apps per day.
The 50 billionth app downloaded on App Store is Say the Same Thing, acquired by an Ohio man, who received the previously announced $10,000 worth gift card. The competition with the rival Android market is tough as Play Store recently announced the 48 billion downloads. In the recent years, the pace of Play Store growth has increased that has tightened the race between the two today there is only a difference of 2 billion downloads between the two stores. The Google Play Store for Android market was launched in October 2008.
Both the app stores offer similar kinds of app categories such as health, educational, gaming and utilities app. However, Apple App Store is known for its premium quality apps that are mostly paid ones. The Google Play Store is popular for its flexible policies that make it easier for developers to publish their app.
Appostrophic, a leading mobile app development company, has created numerous apps for App Store and Play Store to help clients to build digital presence. Launching an app is easy; getting it to the Top 10 List isn’t!

The rising popularity of mobile applications for the consumers has increased the importance of mobile app development function. Hundreds and thousands of applications have been developed for restaurants, hyper stores, supermarkets and other businesses and yet it’s difficult to get your app noticed. And once your apps is created, no matter how rich featured and expertly designed it is, still difficult task is getting your app noticed and bringing among the top 10 download list.

Search Engine Optimization
Use the search engine as a tool to get listed in the top searches of your app or platform related keyword. The app will be enlisted in quick results if the most relevant keywords are placed in the title. Secondary keywords are made up of app description. Here you need to know the important keywords that will be used for better search rankings.

Engage the Users
Provide social platform to customers for feedback to ensure that their voice is heard at the developer’s end. The developers should engage apps users by sharing the plan with them to bring a sense of belongingness and assure the developers that their app is just what the customers want.

Get opinion leaders to talk about your app
Getting people who are trusted and have a fan base to talk about your app is a reliable way to popularize your mobile app. A good example of this is Flipboard (an app that creates a personalized magazine out of anything that is shared with you). Robert Scoble having huge fan following on his blogs, blogged about the app which increased the number of downloads to the extent that Flipboard servers crashed within minutes. If you can connect to opinion leaders, it is a good practice to hand them a copy of your app. If they are impressed they’ll talk about it even without you asking them to do so.

No compromise on Quality
Quality is what it all comes down to when the customer is browsing in the Apple App Store or Android Play Store. We may utilize our best programmers and designers who create attractive designs but ultimately it’s the consumers who will decide our fate. In such competition, consumers don’t have the patience to deal with poorly developed apps.

Apps developed by Appostrophic have all that gets them to the Top 10 list

Traditional Big Banks Threatened By Growing Mobile Wallet Apps

With an increase in the use of mobile phones and mobile banking, the need for traditional banking services are slowly reducing due to multiple transaction solutions provided by Mobile Wallets.
US financial institutions face a serious competitive threat from the rise of Mobile Wallet payment apps, according to a consumer study released by Carlisle and Gallagher, a consulting firm that specializes in financial services. The study also revealed a number of other eye opening results.
What is a Mobile Wallet?
A Mobile Wallet is a Smartphone app that supports multiple payment options, including credit cards, potential coupon offers and purchasing wish lists. The most popular Mobile Wallet is Google Wallet, and Apple is soon expected to join the Mobile Wallet league. PayPal is also making significant advances in the Mobile Wallet domain.
Carlisle and Gallagher took a sample of 605 individuals and almost 50% sample showed their interest in using a Mobile Wallet, an alarming sign for big traditional banks. PayPal scored the highest in Mobile Wallet usage consideration followed by Google and Apple; about 80% of the people were keen on using the Mobile Wallet for credit cards and other banking services. Using one’s handset as a financial tool, or the Mobile Wallet is a new concept which is becoming increasingly popular and integrated across consumer platforms. It not only helps users on the move to access financial accounts, but also plays an integral part in the development of digital commerce and banking. Appostrophic is also considering such mobile wallet apps for iPhone and iPad to sustain the element of leadership and innovation in the mobile application development industry.
How is a Mobile Wallet different from traditional banks?
The Mobile Wallet is proving especially effective in developing countries where desktop access to the Internet and banking opportunities are still a privilege. But access to mobile phones is extremely high. Traditional banks offer physical branches and ATMs, while the Mobile Wallets use the Internet, mobile devices and affiliations with established businesses to offer services in new ways. Now, Mobile Wallets are opening up even more doors for conducting daily as well as enterprise functions.
Today, the fact that more and more people are drifting towards Mobile Wallets is not the worry factor for big banks, because these banks already have alternatives to Mobile Wallets like mobile banking. But the threat that these banks may eventually have to close down their traditional ways of doing business and accept Mobile Wallets and future technologies is very real.
Mobile wallet is certainly opening doors for new apps development and initiating another apps war among the mobile apps developers. Appostrophic has always been ready for new challenges and opportunities and with the help of its highly professional and experienced app developers; it is able to compete drastically to be a winner.
It is predicted that within five years, half of today’s Smartphone users will take advantage of phones and Mobile Wallets as their preferred form of payment method. With the physical wallet disappearing, banks will need to quickly figure out what they can offer customers that PayPal, Google and other competitors haven’t thought of.
