App Store reaches 50 billion downloads

It has been just five years since Apple launched its App Store in July 2008. Since then, Apple has passed 3 major milestones, the first-10 billion download in 2011, the second- reaching  25 billion the next year and this week it reached the third milestone of having as many as 50 billion downloads.
To celebrate the achievement, Apple is offering $10, 000 worth of gift cards to the person who downloads the 50 billionth app. There will also be 50 runners-up who will receive $500 worth gift card. It took 3 years and 8 months for Apple to reach the first 25 billion mark; however, within 14.5 months, Apple was able to double the downloads. This year, the pace to download apps has grown with over 50 million apps per day.
The 50 billionth app downloaded on App Store is Say the Same Thing, acquired by an Ohio man, who received the previously announced $10,000 worth gift card. The competition with the rival Android market is tough as Play Store recently announced the 48 billion downloads. In the recent years, the pace of Play Store growth has increased that has tightened the race between the two today there is only a difference of 2 billion downloads between the two stores. The Google Play Store for Android market was launched in October 2008.
Both the app stores offer similar kinds of app categories such as health, educational, gaming and utilities app. However, Apple App Store is known for its premium quality apps that are mostly paid ones. The Google Play Store is popular for its flexible policies that make it easier for developers to publish their app.

Why iOS has greater cash pouring than Android

Currently, Android leads the mobile phone industry and is ahead of its rival iPhone in terms of usage. According to an estimate, there are about 550,000 Android-based mobile phone users as compared to 450,000 iPhone users. The number of apps available on Play Store and Play Store is equal but still iPhone generates 300% higher revenue than Android, which encourages developers to build apps for iOS platform.
But why is there such a large disparity, when Android has surpassed iOS users? The answer is simple: the strict quality control of Apple App Store. The Android’s lenient policy is a better choice to launch app development career, but it won’t help you in earning large sum of money.
The scrupulous approval process is the biggest reason of Apple’s revenue dominance. Consumers believe that iPhone offers quality apps as it has a meticulous app submission process. iOS developers charge more for their apps as it is difficult to meet its strict quality policies.
The iOS community is safe, and people trust it more when purchasing an app as it guarantees that the app will be free of malicious codes or malware. Google Play Store does not provide any such assurance as it is an open platform. Google Play Store needs to outdo a huge revenue gap in order to become the undisputed leader in the mobile app development industry.
Even those developers who offer free iOS apps earn profit from in-app purchases. It is tough to meet Apple’s standard that guarantees safe and secure apps. Development companies and individuals are struggling to publish their app on App Store that brings in maximum revenue. Appostrophic is one of the leading mobile development companies that design top-ranking iOS apps for businesses.
Appostrophic has developed various user-friendly and interactive apps for its clients. The company is experienced in developing apps for both iOS and Android platforms. The highly functional and interactive apps have generated revenue for the clients as apps help them in connecting with the audience in a personalized way.

Google Cleans its Play Store

Google has revamped its Play Store by giving it a clean and fresh design enhancing the view and interactivity of the app. The store has redesigned its layout giving images a larger view that jumps off the screen.
The images and the layout of Play Store use brighter colors to help users find the content easily. Not only has the layout been changed but also the purchase process is also simplified. The new Google Play Store is automatically updated on the mobile devices that run on Android 2.2 and above.
The purchase process has also been simplified. It allows users to buy an app without leaving the context of the Play Store. As soon as the purchase is made, the user will be redirected to the page he was earlier on without reconstructing the context of the Play Store.
Developers will now have greater chances to feature their app on the Play Store. The collections that contain the list of recommended and curated apps will now be presented as cards giving more space to the image with a larger touch area. The homepage will have more apps that are displayed effectively so that users can easily find them.
The apps with similar themes are grouped together so that users can find all the apps belonging to the same genre. The users will also find a list of recommendations as they scroll down the page. This will enable them to explore new and user-friendly apps available on Play Store.
With the new layout, Google also guarantees to improve the quality of available apps. In February alone, the some 60,000 apps were removed that did not meet the policies of Google Play.
There are many professional mobile development companies developing user-friendly and quality apps for Play Store. Appostrophic is one of the leading names in mobile app development industry. It has produced a wide collection of Android apps for almost all the categories available on the Play Store.
